The founders of TREHAUS bring extensive expertise in both traditional building/construction techniques. Drawing on this wealth of experience, we made a pivotal decision eight years ago—to incorporate cutting-edge Structural Integrated Panels (SIP Panels) into our construction methods. This strategic move has proven immensely successful, enabling us to design and construct a diverse array of structures tailored to meet our customers’ needs. From innovative garden pods, efficient office spaces, and cozy living spaces to invigorating saunas, our repertoire continues to expand, encompassing a variety of unique and purpose-driven pod designs.
Among the structures we’ve crafted are garden, gym, office, and bedroom pods, as well as micro homes, modular houses, and extensions. However, our journey took an unexpected turn at the onset of the worldwide pandemic. In response to the pressing needs of the time, we swiftly developed a series of pods. Their popularity spurred us to refine both our product and construction techniques, resulting in versatile pods that prioritize both aesthetic appeal and functionality. Today, we confidently assert that our Pods stand as the UK market leader in strength and quality. This achievement is a testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence. Proudly, we manufacture these Pods in our dedicated factory located in Bristol, UK. Building technique.
By utilising SIPs in our Pod construction customers can benefit from an innovative and environmentally friendly construction technique, leading to superior build quality. (SIPs are made of solid PIR insulation far superior in strength and performance to wool cavity insulation in a timber frame). The main benefits of our building technique are listed below.
- 7x stronger than timber frame - and 3x stronger than brick and block.
- Typical U values 0.22 W/m2K - low rate of heat transfer and energy consumption whilst increasing internal space compared to traditional building.
- 80% less wastage (Pods built off-site)
- Does not degrade or deteriorate over time.
Energy efficiency.
TREHAUS understands the importance of protecting the environment and we are committed to this with energy efficiency at its core and considers; insulation, lighting, and heating elements to reduce carbon footprint, and lower energy costs.
Insulation
Insulation is an integral component in achieving a good energy efficiency rating and helps to create a warm, comfortable space that retains heat & reduces the risk of condensation. All insulation used in our Pods is Fire rated B or higher.
Roof: Sips roofing panel 0.22 w/m2.
Floor: Sips Floor Panel 0.28 w/m2.
Wall: Sips Wall Panels 0.28 w/m2.
Lighting
LEDs consume 80-90% less energy than incandescent or halogen light bulbs and have a lifespan of up to 50,000 hours. This makes them more energy efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective than their counterparts.
Heating
We fit an electric convector panel heater with time and temperature controls to ensure heating is only on when necessary, reducing carbon footprint and lowering costs.
Air Permeability
Overall sealed construction achieves 5.0 m3/h.

Garden rooms and Garden Office

Features
Roof and Floor use fully insulated SIP’s panels. The Roof is angled (pent roof) and fitted with galvanised steel plastisol cladding (Black leather effect). The facias are also galvanized steel plastisol for longevity
Black plastic gutter and down pipe are fitted on the rear of the pod to direct rainwater into either in-ground soak away or mains drainage system or alternatively used in rainwater harvesting.
Walls are built from fully insulated SIP’s using fire-rated insulation (minimum B Fire rated). Your Pod will come lined with plywood ready for you to paint your desired colour. The walls floor and roof are all made of 5 layers giving unprecedented strength and insulation properties. The External walls are clad with either plastisol cladding, mirrored glazing or James Hardy plank.
We only use double-glazed UPVC security doors fitted with a 5-pin Euro locks usable from both sides.
All wiring is concealed within the walls. This gives a finish no different to a modern house with recessed plug sockets (one of which with a USB connection). These are usually situated on the rear and right wall. We fit sleek LED recessed lights into the overhang and a central internal ceiling light on a twin switch. The inside is ready to go and needs to be connected to an existing supply. A qualified electrician must connect and certify the complete installation. (we can quote for this POA)

Pods come with energy-efficient electric heaters and heat recovery ventilation systems built in with integral regenerative heat exchange (80% efficiency)
Our Pods have 25cm overhang to the front projection of the Pod which acts as a semi porch making the frontage of your building both looking great and practical. This porch is clad with real wood-looking composite for maintenance-free longevity.
Your Pod is fitted with commercial-grade carpet tiles or wood/vinyl laminate flooring. This not only adds a touch of durability but also provides a cozy atmosphere. Whether you prefer the warmth of carpet or the modern look of laminate, we’ve got you covered. Sauna/Spa

Micro Pods
These can be made quick and are structurally insulated. They can be used for a variety of functions. They are safe and secure built to sustain the harshest weather conditions and can be built tailored for emergency housing or finished with a touch off designer flair by our in-house designers to be used as glamping Pods. We work alongside residencestore.co.uk to furnish and finish our Pods creating a turn-key solution to completely meet all your needs. We are also able to install full washroom or WC facilities or can create an entire Pod as a Washroom/WC to act as a central service Pod. Explore Three Distinct Delivery Options for Our Pods
- Complete Delivery on a Flatbed: Utilizing the roll-on and roll-off technique for ease.
- Complete Delivery with Lifting Equipment: Our skilled team can lift and lower into place using equipment such as a Hiab.
- Flat Packed Delivery: Our efficient installation team typically completes the setup in just one day. Standard installation includes navigating through gates with no upper height restriction. Our largest panel stands at 2.1 meters high.

Siting your Pod.
We can put your Pod on a pre-existing hard standing or patio if it is perfectly level and structurally sound. (the ground and surrounding area must be clear with no services or large tree roots underneath) We are able to do foundations (POA)
There are 2 types of foundation we can do if the ground is firm and level (if this is not the case let us know before installation)
Pile and PAD foundation
A hole is bored, and a steel pile inserted down to create a pile with a pad concreated on top to sit the building on. This creates a 5cm gap underneath to allow airflow and act as a protection barrier between the ground and the Pod. To install these, we need fairly level ground.
Solid poured base foundation
This is our preferred method of foundation. A concreate slab reinforced with steel is poured to give a solid base to sit and fix the Pod on. (we are only able to do this foundation within an hour of Bristol) We charge slightly more to do this as is more work.
